Delay a step

Use Wait to hold a run for a while before the next step, such as sending a follow-up three days after a sign-up, or a reminder at 9:00 on the morning of an appointment.

To wait for someone to respond instead of for a time, see Pause until someone responds.

Wait for an amount of time

  1. Where the flow should pause, click Add Step, open Built-in, choose Wait, then Wait For.
  2. Set Duration and Time Unit, for example 3 Days. The units are seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks and months.

Wait until a date and time

  1. Add Built-in › Wait › Wait Until.
  2. Set Date & Time. You can pick a date, or use one from an earlier step, such as an appointment time from a form.
  3. Choose the Timezone the date is in. The default is Asia/Tokyo.
  4. Choose what happens if the date has already passed, in How should we handle dates in the past?:
OptionWhen the date has passed…
Continue if it's up to 15 minutes / one hour / one day (default) / one week / one monthContinue straight away if it passed less than that long ago. Otherwise the step fails.
Always continueContinue straight away.
Stop and throw an errorFail the step.

While a run waits

  • The run isn't finished while it waits. It continues with the next step when the wait ends, and you can follow it in Executions.
  • A wait inside a loop pauses each pass, so 10 items with a 1-hour wait take 10 hours.
